Camp Description: Camp Kern located in Oregonia, Ohio is over 100 years old and known for the magical experiences brought to each guest. Camp Kern consists of a public zipline, 70 herd ranch, outdoor education department, year round conferencing and leadership, and summer camp set on 525 acres bordering the Little Miami River. Camp Kern serves over 65,000 guest each year with an operating budget of $3.5 million.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Executive Director – Camp Kern, Oregonia, Ohio YMCA of Greater Dayton Association Position Summary: Oversees the total operation of Camp Kern, a branch of the YMCA of Greater Dayton Association, including budgeting, guest relationships, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations, and collaborations with community agencies. Essential Functions: 1. Coordinates the development of the branch board and committees. Directs the volunteer activities of the branch. 2. Directs the financial development activities of the branch. 3. Represents and promotes the Y in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organization, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationship with community agencies in service delivery area. 4. Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff. 5. Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget of $3.5 million and meets or exceeds budget targets. 6. Develops, implements, and directs the branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch as part of the Association’s strategic plan. 7. Develops and directs high-quality relationship-based guest engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community. 8. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop guest-focused programs that support the Y’s cause, mission, goals, and strategies. 9. Develops relationships with community leaders and diverse groups of people from various social and economic areas of the community. 10. Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment. 11. Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community. 12. Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA. 13. Conducts and directs a successful Annual Campaign and Capitol Campaigns to achieve pre-campaign agreed upon goals. 14. Leads, participates and contributes towards the goals of assigned committees within the Association. 15. Monitors and assists in the maintenance of a clean and sanitary campus that meets all state and local licensing requirements. 16. Works with departments to inspect equipment for safety hazards, damage or wear. 17. Upholds guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook of the Association. 18. Attends designated meetings and trainings. Maintains appropriate certifications. Qualifications: Education and Certifications • A 4-year college degree or applicable YMCA experience is required; Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent strongly preferred. • Online New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens within 30 days of employment. Child Abuse Prevention and Bloodborne Pathogens to be refreshed every 12 months. Experience • Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or nonprofit agency • Two years of residential camp management and conferencing/ leadership required. • Two years of volunteer and staff development, proven budget development and monitoring experience, public relations, and program development required. • Social media and marketing experience strongly preferred. • YMCA Multi-Branch or Branch Leader certification preferred. • Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable drivers record according to the YMCA’s insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors and suppliers, etc. • Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time, to talk and hear, to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, to climb or balance, to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, occasional bending or squatting. The incumbent is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The incumbent may be required to participate in adventure programming including but not limited to: zip lining, horseback riding, climbing, hiking, canoeing, swimming, fire starting, and other Camp Kern outdoor activities. Speaking, projecting of the voice, and singing by camp fires will be a requirement of this position. Also required is frequent hearing and talking, in person and on the telephone. This position varies on location of work and climate. Approximately 60% of the work performed for this position will be indoors and 40% in an outdoor environment.

Salary Information: Exempt Position - $63,200 - $70,000 annual salary, family housing available, 12% Y Retirement Employer contirbution
