Job Description and Required Certifications: Camp Pinewood is a diverse co-ed summer resident camp program located in Western Michigan and serving campers aged 5-17 primarily from the Chicago area. Staff are required to attend all pre-camp trainings and commit to the entirety of camp season June-August. Additional employment opportunities are available before and after these dates. Summary Program Specialists serve two functions. First they are a Senior Counselor in a cabin of campers. They will oversee one cabin of 8-10 campers and is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. Second, they will be a Specialist in program area or a cabin unit and are responsible for all equipment, documentation and risk management associated with that area. Work in a team setting to coordinate and implement activities and manage the camper experience in a positive manner. Program Specialist Positions include: Arts and Crafts, High Adventure, Archery, Biking, Waterfront/Lifeguard (2 positions), Horseback Riding, Digital Photography, Drama/Dance, and Unit Specialists for each age group. Pioneer Unit specialists will live in the outdoors for all Pioneer Unit programs Responsibilities: Management of camper health and well-being Panning and implementing daily cabin activities Planning and leading program classes and maintain your area of specialty Follow all YMCA, ACA, and State policies and standards Demonstrate leadership and actively participate in programs, skill periods and other camp related activities Provide campers with a positive and wholesome role model Requirements: High School graduate and at least 18 years of age by the start of the first session. Pioneer Unit Specialists must be 21 years of age, clean driving record, willing to drive a 14 passenger bus, waterfront lifeguard & outdoor camping preferred Possess a strong interest in working with children. Knowledge and experience in camp related activities. Good moral judgment. Obtain prior to and hold valid certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED throughout employment term. Lifeguards must also maintain Lifeguarding certifications.
Salary Information: $180-$225
