Job Description and Required Certifications: GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Camp Jackson Director, run the day to day operations of YMCA Camp Jackson base camp programs. Specific areas of focus include but are not limited to specialty areas, cabin times, choices, evening program and counselor development. This position is also responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of the Camp Jackson facility. KNOW-HOW: The Base Camp Director should be well versed in youth development and summer camp operations. Specific knowledge of facility management and basic maintenance a must. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age with at least 2 years of college or equivalent, experience in summer camp programs, people management skills and the ability to organize, direct and motivate program staff. Creative thinking is required to create exciting new programs, activities and games. First Aid, CPR & AED certification and blood borne pathogen training are required. Advanced first aid training is preferred. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: 1) Oversee all base camp programs for quality of programming, safety and staffing levels 2) Keep track of and designate clean cabin, service projects and weekly cabin of honor 3) Oversee the base camp packout program 4) Assist specialty area directors in evaluating program staff and work with them to improve the quality of programs 5) Assist in the smooth running and supervision of the CREW program 6) Set up cleaning and maintenance schedules and provide basic facility maintenance support 7) Responsible for daily monitoring and upkeep of pool area 8) All aspects of evening program including planning, set-up, running and clean up 9) Work with the Interim Camp Director to ensure overall program quality 10) Lead daily front line staff meetings 11) Attend weekly senior staff meetings EFFECTS ON END RESULTS: The Camp Jackson - Base Camp Director will ensure that Camp Jackson is recognized as a quality enrichment program that provides the youth of Southern Colorado with outstanding opportunities. Program quality will rise due to innovative thinking and attention to detail. This will lead to increased camper retention.

Salary Information: $200-$300 per week (DOE) + room & board.
