Camp Description: Our focus is to instill honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility by helping campers make new friends and increase self-confidence. We strive to meet the developmental needs of young people. Our staff come from across the country and around the world. They are carefully selected, screened and interviewed. Staff participate in an extensive training program (including CPR and First Aid training) to prepare them for the key role they play in your camper's experience at camp. Our leaders and medical staff are on-call 24 hours a day to help with any needs that may arise. Our camp is accredited by the American Camp Association.

Job Description and Required Certifications: General Function: Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and/or Director, the Naturalist/Instructor provides leadership and instruction in outdoor environmental education; adventure learning, teen leadership, belaying and ropes course facilitation, group camping/family camping and conferences. Naturalists/Instructors participate in staff training, resulting in successful ability to teach majority of classes and activities for OEE program, understanding of background information and theory. Know How: Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years and have a high school diploma, or its equivalent, and a BS/BA related degree and/or equivalent experience with youth/families in recreational or educational settings preferred. Current lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications are required by the start of programming. Successful candidates must be able to effectively operate in a team atmosphere. Strong skills in relating to and modeling exemplary behavior around adults and children. Ability to learn educational content of classes, natural science, group development, values, challenge education, history, arts and crafts, environmental studies, recreation, and outdoor skills. Personal management skills including being on time, well prepared and organized program presentation. A willingness to work in an outdoor setting. Flexibility to adapt to changing needs of school groups, program schedules, work within a staff team. Writing and design skills to create lesson plans, program schedules, and teaching materials.

Salary Information: $8.50 - $10.20 / hour
