KITCHEN DIRECTOR Camp Name: Ann Arbor YMCA Camp Al-Gon-Quian Camp Location: Burt Lake, MI Camp Description: Camp Al-Gon-Quian is the Ann Arbor YMCAs overnight camp for campers ages 6 through 16. Offering traditional camp programs of one to two weeks throughout the summer and some seasonal programs, Camp Al-Gon-Quian has become a home away from home for many of our campers throughout our 87-year history. The camp is located on Burt Lake in Northern Michigan, just east of Petoskey and about a four-hour drive north of Ann Arbor. Our 150-acre campus is a combination of forest, playing fields, original and updated buildings, breathtaking shoreline and even a natural spring. Sponsoring YMCA: Ann Arbor YMCA YMCA Location: Ann Arbor, MI Job Description and Required Certifications: The Kitchen Director will orchestrate daily operations of the camps food service, serving approximately 260 meals three times a day. This includes establishing healthy menu for camp program, preparing and serving food as menu indicates and placing all food orders and coordinate with vendors. The director will also maintain excellent levels of cleanliness and food safety. He or she will ensure the cleanliness, organization and maintenance of all food-prep and storage area and ensure the kitchen meets all health department requirements. He or she will also work as the leader of the foodservice and camp team. The kitchen director will coordinate schedule and job tasks with other kitchen staff, supervise and direct the work of the kitchen assistants, and work with director to meet budget expectations. Certifications and Qualifications: Experience in institutional or foodservice settings; knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, storage of food and kitchen procedures; Current ServSafe certification; Current First Aid and CPR certifications; Leadership ability, positive attitude and teamwork-oriented mindset; Must be at least 21 years old by 6/22/2013 Salary Information: Base Stipend: $415/week base including room and board, or $10-$15 hourly if housing is not needed.
