Camp Description: Camp Jorn is located in the beautiful north woods of Wisconsin and sits on over 70 acres overlooking Rest Lake, surrounded by the Northern Highland State Forest. We offer traditional camp experiences for children 8yrs-16yrs. Our mission is for all who engage in Camp Jorn YMCA experiences to recognize and develop value in themselves and in the world around them. At camp, we want our campers to get a chance to unplug from the world and learn what it means to be caring, honest, respectful, responsible, and grow as a person. We have been operating since 1953, and are celebrating our 60th anniversary this year! We welcome you to join our CJ family.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Leadership Counselors are responsible for our older leadership campers while they are at Camp Jorn YMCA. They teach our campers to the concepts of leadership and give hands on opportunities within a camp environment. We have 3 leadership groups at CJ. TEVA (standing for Team-building, Education, Values, Adventure), which is for campers 13-15. Our Leaders In Training program (LIT), which is for campers 15 years old, or those that have completed Freshman year in H.S. LIT is the first year of a two year program to develop the necessary skills to be effective leaders, and possible future staff. Finally, there is our Counselor In Training (CIT) program, which is the second part of our two year Leadership program. At Camp Jorn, our leadership campers go on extended overnight camping trips that range from 5-7 days, which the counselors lead in accordance with tripping program guidelines. To learn more about our TEVA, LIT, or CIT programs please check out our website. Requirements: Minimum 19 years of age or High School Graduate or equivalent. Desire and ability to work with children outdoors. Ability to relate to one's peer group and accept supervision and guidance. Knowledge of a wide variety of group games/initiatives that promote teamwork, group challenges, positive play, and adventurous challenge for leadership campers. Ability to teach specific camp activities. Experience leading camping trips and Ability to teach camping techniques to campers. Current CPR & First Aid certifications - Lifeguard and other certifications a plus. Enthusiastic, Flexible, and Team Orientated individual committed to modeling and teaching values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Personal Growth.
Salary Information: Weekly rate based on experience and qualifications. Starting at $250/wk from June - Mid August, room & board included.
