WATERFRONT DIRECTOR Camp Name: Camp Shady Brook Camp Location: Sedalia, CO Camp Description: YMCA Camp Shady Brook is located 90 minutes Southwest of Denver on the South Platte River, nestled in the beautiful Rocky Mountains at 6800 feet in elevation. We have an amazing summer staff of 50 talented people from all over the world to bring approximately 150 campers to camp for 10 different weeks each summer. We believe strongly in our mission and are highly selective in our staff hiring. We create a world for children as it is supposted to be: a safe, fun community of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility, specializing in giving children a memorable summer experience that will help shape the rest of their lives. Sponsoring YMCA: Camping Services Branch YMCA YMCA Location: Colorado Springs, CO Job Description and Required Certifications: The successful Waterfront Director will oversee a 5 acre lake ensuring the safety of all waterfont activities and its participants. Responsible for enforcing Camp Shady Brook Waterfront standards for all camp staff, campers guests and other users. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all waterfront equipment to include but not limited to canoes, kayaks, lifejackets, paddles, picnic tables, beach toys, and slide. MINIMUM CRITERIA FOR CANDIDATES: Required: Must be at least 21 years of age Lifeguard, Oxygen Administration, CPR & First Aid Certifications Previous overnight camp experience Previous waterfront or pool experience as a lifeguard High School Diploma required Ability to asses weather conditions and make sound decisions based on continued waterfront use Minimum of three months of full time or equivalent part time satisfactory and verifiable experience with middle school age children, and teens. Preferred: Six months of satisfactory and verifiable experience with middle school age children and teens. 1 year previous supervisory work with waterfront or pool 2 years previous camp experience Watercraft certifications KEY FOCUS AREAS: Safety/Risk Management Child/Youth Development Program Design and Implementation Staff Supervision Salary Information: Summer seasonal position for 10.5 weeks - $2,268 - $2,394/season Room and Board Provided: Yes How to Apply: Visit our website at www.ppymca.org to complete an on-line job application.
