Camp Description: Located on Barlow Lake, Camp Manitou-Lin offers kids a variety of experiences! To support the amenities listed, we have nine out buildings and 10 resident cabins that can house 220 people. Our riding center houses 50 horses year-round and we also have two archery ranges, a chapel, zip line, high ropes course, rock wall, along with three docks and a variety of boats

Job Description and Required Certifications: The Outdoor Education Instructor will implement and help to plan and supervise the outdoor education program. Education: College degree with a B.A. or B.S. in Outdoor Education, Recreation, or Environmental Science preferred Required: ACA, OLS training or equivalent Documented training and experience in outdoor living skills and environmental education Current first aid and CPR certifications At least 18 years of age. Additional qualifications: Ability to set up demonstration area and program, and to teach skills to campers of all ages. Desire and ability to work with children outdoors Ability to relate to ones peer group Ability to accept guidance and supervision Good character, integrity, and adaptability Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control Ability to successfully work as a part of a team Specific Functions: 1. Responsible for teaching daily outdoor education classes. 2. Responsible for leading evening programs when assigned. 3. Responsible for providing an educational and positive experience for teachers, group leaders, and program participants. 4. Teach and monitor proper use of equipment. 5. Check equipment and make (or file for) repairs. 6. Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed. 7. Ensure the continued cleanliness of all camp facilities. 8. Assist in packing all materials and supplies at end of season. 9. Assist in the development of lesson plans that will foster participants outdoor living skills and environmental sensitivity. 10. Evaluate current season and make recommendations for equipment, supplies, and program for following season. 11. Work with other camp staff in a positive, professional manner. 12. Maintain high level of professionalism during and while representing the YMCA & Camp Manitou-Lin programs. 13. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.
Salary Information: 50/day; position begins in April
