Job Description and Required Certifications: YMCA of Saginaw seeks dynamic Resident Camp Director to provide overall leadership to summer resident camp programs and year-round partner group programs at YMCA Camp Timbers. This position requires residence in our primary market area, the Saginaw-Bay-Midland region, with seasonal migration to on-site housing at our camp in West Branch. The Camp Director will lead a team of up to 50 seasonal staff and one full-time year-round Program Manager, and work under the guidance of our association CEO. This position requires a passion for and understanding of the significant impact that the camp experience can have in the life of a child. The incumbent must be able to build strong relationships with campers and their parents, group and family program participants, and group leaders; and thus must be proficient with active listening skills; demonstrate patience; have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and to do so with a diverse population in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent must have demonstrated success in working with a team to achieve results, and be able to work independently. Additional requirements and preferences include the following: Must have at least five seasons of administrative experience in a summer resident camp setting. Must have strong written and oral communication skills. Must have experience and proficiency in skills related to developing and managing a budget. Must have a minimum of three years of successful experience in developing and implementing programs in a variety of settings but preference is to experience in a resident camp environment. Per ACA Standards: The Camp Director must have a bachelor's degree, at least two seasons of camp supervisory experience, have attended an average of 5 hours/year of professional development offerings, and be at least 25 years old. This position requires maintenance of current certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid. This position requires computer proficiency. Must have strong leadership skills. Must be able to multi-task, be detail oriented, and have strong organizational skills. Must have demonstrated experience in training, supervising, and developing staff and volunteers. Must have the physical ability to be active during the summer season for work days approximating 16 hours per day and to navigate rough terrain on foot. Must have strong problem solving skills and the ability to make sound judgments related to all aspects of the program. Unique opportunity to build upon our 45-years of camping.

Salary Information: $40,000-$46,000 plus medical and retirement benefits as described in our personnel policy manual.
