WATERFRONT DIRECTOR Camp Name: Camp Wiyaka Camp Location: Richmond, NH Camp Description: Located on Sandy Pond, Camp Wiyaka is a wonderful place for children ages 7 15 to spend a week (or two or five) exploring, discovering, and creating lasting friendships. There are over 60 acres of woods and fields and a 23 acre lake. Our 2013 staff season runs from late June to mid-August which includes Lifeguard Training (optional) and a Staff Orientation week prior to campers arrival. Our resident camp can accommodate about 70 campers per week, and our daily schedule allows the children to participate in traditional camp offerings such as swimming, boating, doing arts and crafts, archery, playing sports and games, learning about nature, and more. Nightly sing-along campfires, family style meals, and platform tents have been a part of Camp Wiyaka tradition since 1921. Please see our website at www.wiyaka.org for more information. Sponsoring YMCA: Camp Wiyaka YMCA YMCA Location: Athol, MA Job Description and Required Certifications: Spend your summer on the shores of Sandy Pond! The Waterfront Director is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising fun / age + ability appropriate programs and activities for campers while utilizing equipment available (boats, game supplies, water supplies, etc.). It is the responsibility of the Waterfront Director to maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized environment for waterfront activities as well as for all storage facilities used in connection to waterfront activities or equipment. It is the responsibility of the Waterfront Director to ensure the safety of campers within the waterfront space. At the start of each week, the Waterfront Director will assess campers swimming abilities and assign tags that will create restrictions on area of swim and boats checked out. The Waterfront Director is a member of the senior staff team, and as such, is responsible for assisting to lead general camp activities, camper safety, and basic maintenance of the facility. The Waterfront Director will supervise all lifeguards on duty. Qualifications: Minimum 21 years of age, Lifeguard Certified, Swim Instructor certified (desired but not required), Clean CORI / SORI background check, Safety minded, Experience and / or desire for working with youth, willingness for follow / give directions and work as a team member, Strong leadership and organization skills, Willingness to as for assistance when needed or desired, Good health, Ability to interact with all age levels.
