CAMP COOK Camp Name: Leslie Marrowbone Memorial YMCA Camp Camp Location: Dupree, SD Camp Description: Leslie Marrowbone Memorial YMCA Camp is a small co-ed residential camp on the eastern edge of the Cheyenne River Reservation. We serve native and non-native youth ages 8 to 17. "Camp Marrowbone" is surrounded by pristine prairie and Lake Oahe, a shoot of the Missouri River. Sponsoring YMCA: General Convention of Sioux YMCAs YMCA Location: Dupree, SD Job Description and Required Certifications: The Cook position requires organization and initiative but is incredibly rewarding. Our kitchen is complete with an oven, stove, two refrigerators and freezers and it is the only building at camp with air-conditioning! Camp Marrowbone is a part of the National Summer Food Program, which mandates that we serve. This also requires the cook to work with the Camp Director to keep detailed records of how many people were served and what was served every day. Responsibilities include Become familiar with the Summer Food Program and its requirements. Work with the Camp Director to create weekly menus and subsequent shopping lists. During training, the cook is responsible for preparing the kitchen for the camp season and preparing meals for fellow staff members. The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as afternoon and evening snack for up to 50 people. Clean and maintain the kitchen as well as assist the LIT Supervisor in managing LITs and their kitchen duties. The cook is responsible for weekly grocery shopping. Maintain detailed records mandated by the Summer Food Program. Applicant should be responsible and organized. Diligence to details, the ability to follow recipes and timeliness are a must. Applicant must be at least 18 years old, it is preferred that the applicant is at least 21 years old with a valid drivers license, for insurance and driving purposes, but is not necessary. Applicant must complete his/her food handlers training as well as first aid/CPR training before or during staff training. Experience in cooking or kitchen management is preferred.
