Camp Description: Leslie Marrowbone Memorial YMCA Camp is a small co-ed residential camp on the eastern edge of the Cheyenne River Reservation. We serve native and non-native youth ages 8 to 17. "Camp Marrowbone" is surrounded by pristine prairie and Lake Oahe, a shoot of the Missouri River.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Leslie Marrowbone Memorial YMCA Camp is only as strong as its counselors. Counselors are the soul of Camp Marrowbone as they carry out the majority of daily camp programming. Counselors serve as role models and guides for the children and youth they care for. Working as a Camp Marrowbone counselor not only improves ones leadership and inter-cultural skills but it can serve as a life-changing opportunity. As a counselor you are a part of a top-notch team serving some amazing kids and youth from various communities across the Cheyenne River Reservation. Leslie Marrowbone Memorial YMCA Camp is much more than a YMCA camp; it is an environment of adventure, camaraderie, passion, and energy for individuals motivated by a spirit of exploration, service, leadership, enthusiasm and compassion. Responsibilities include participating in staff training, camp maintenance and community outreach/camper recruitment. Counselors are responsible for assisting with camper pick up and drop off every Monday and Friday by riding the bus with campers. Counselors are expected to live with campers in tipis during the camp session. Counselors are also responsible for organizing and/or executing a variety of camp activities and programming. Applicants must be highly motivated, dedicated, and reliable. Must be 18 years or older, camping experience preferred. Applicants must have first aid and CPR certification, or be willing to receive their certification by staff training or during staff training. Ideal applicants have experience working with children, are enthusiastic, have a love for the outdoors, and are amenable to being trained as a lifeguard. This position comes with various forms of stress, applicants must be able to handle stress in a responsible and healthy manner and must be able to work with a small team.
Salary Information: $225/week for 8 weeks
