Over 3,300 youth and 30,000 guests are served annually though outdoor programs and retreats that strengthen confidence, forge friendships and sharpen character. In the heart of Nashville, this outdoor center is located on 320 acres with 4 miles of shoreline on Percy Priest Lake.

Job Description and Required Certifications: General Function: Consistent with the Christian mission and Hope for Life Vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Executive Director, the Boy’s Camp Director & Sr. Program Director is responsible for day-to-day operations for program and guest services of the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center. Know How • Minimum of 5 years of full-time camp experience in management and supervision with highly developed organizational skills and proven success in staff development. • Bachelor’s degree in related field • Possess extensive knowledge of camp programming: boating safety and aquatics programs, sports, arts, challenge course, literacy, equestrian, outdoor living, cabin life, evening programs, outdoor education and special events. • Professional oral and written communication skills • Proven management, computer and organizational skills • Effective human relations and supervisory experience • Understanding and value orientation appropriate to the Christian principles of the Association and YMCA camping • Demonstrated ability for organizational teambuilding for staff and volunteers, new program development and fiscal management • US Waterski Trainer • Spirit of America Boating Trainer • Certificate of Education in Sailing, Power and Paddle crafts • NASBLA Certificate • First Aid Trainer • CPR/O2/AED Trainer • Open water Lifeguard Trainer • ACCT Ropes Course Training • Commercial Drives License Camp Leadership Functions • Acts as Camp Director, ensuring that camp policies, procedures, staff training, certifications, etc meet or exceed association, Presidium, SOA, CHA, ACCT and ACA guidelines. • Providing leadership and vision to the daily activities and programs to ensure a quality camp experience that achieves the outcomes set by the camp board. • Develops, monitors and manages the Camp, Equestrian and Aquatics budgets. Provides overall supervision for all of camp’s program areas, including Aquatics, Equestrian and Challenge Course. • Provides daily leadership and supervision for waterfront programs including: Ellis compliance, boating and sailing, Spirit of America program, Canoe with a parent, and pool maintenance/chemicals. • Provide daily leadership and supervision for camp programs including: Program Development and Documentation, schedules, Policies and Procedures, Safety, Family Night, New Program initiatives, Overnight Camp Check in/out procedures and parent evaluations. • Implement character development and Christian emphasis in all programs and all aspects of the outdoor center operations. • Works within the guidelines of the Camp marketing plan to develop a camper sales and retention program and serve as camp website manager. • Responsible for the inventory and purchasing of recreation and other program supplies. • Coordination of program staff and program volunteer trainings: Boater Safety, Water Ski Training, Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, AED, BBP, and general Camp activities • Support the Executive Director in implementation of the Annual Giving Campaign by maintaining relationships with Community Partnerships and developing a Camp Alumni Development component of the ACG to send kids to camp. • Provides leadership to the Board Camp Marketing and Program and Conference Committees. • Various duties related to the general camp operation, including but not limited to directing and supervising weekend events, producing staff and camper videos, and representing the camp and the YMCA of Middle Tennessee at home shows, exhibits and conferences. • Directly supervise the Girl’s Camp Director, Guest Services Director and Land Program Coordinator. • Due to the nature of summer camp and shoulder-season retreats (24 hours a day), the Boy’s Camp Director & Sr. Program Director is required to live on camp property.

Salary Information: Salary: $35,553 to $44,442 annually
