Deena Kastor stated in an interview that her goal was to beat the time she ran in her first marathon in New York in 2001. At the time, her 2:26:59 was the fastest debut by an American woman. She hopes to run as fast as 2:25. Were she to do that, it would not only shatter Colleen de Reuck's U.S. master's record of 2:28:40, but she could possibly surpass Lyudmila Petrova's world record of 2:25:43, set in New York in 2008. more
