YMCA Adventure Guides: National Advisory Committee
National Advisory Committee Description
The National Advisory Council (NAC) for YMCA Adventure Guides programs is one of several advisory councils appointed by the YMCA of the USA. The current NAC includes the following positions: chairperson, YMCA of the USA staff liaison, YMCA of the USA consultant (either a Network or Membership and Program Consultant), local YMCA program staff, and local YMCA volunteers (those in leadership positions).
National Advisory Committee responsibilities
The NAC is an advisory council responsible for the following duties:
| • | Advising the YMCA of the USA staff on matters related to this program (e.g., current trends, local YMCA needs, program best practices, etc.) | |
| • | Disseminating information about YMCA Adventure Guides programs to local YMCAs | |
| • | Providing support to YMCAs with new and existing programs | |
| • | Discovering and sharing successful program models | |
| • | Promoting and facilitating training | |
| • | Developing new resources | |
| • | Advising and processing recognition awards |
Advisory Committee members serve limited terms and new members are often recruited to replace outgoing members. Individuals interested in serving on the NAC must have extensive experience with the program and a perspective beyond their own individual YMCA.
