YMCA of the USA Announces Election of Two New Members to 25-Person Board of Directors


PepsiCo executive, 37-year YMCA veteran bring diverse experience to board

CHICAGO, March 20, 2007—YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), the national resource office for the country’s 2,663 YMCAs, today announced the election of Antonio J. Lucio of Purchase, N.Y., and Larry Rosen of Los Angeles to the 25-member YMCA of the USA Board of Directors.  The normal board term is three years with eligibility for a second three-year term.    

Antonio J. Lucio is senior vice president of insights and innovation for PepsiCo. He is responsible for accelerating growth across all of the company’s divisions. Mr. Lucio also has served as vice president of marketing operations and initiative development for Pepsi-Cola Bottlers International and marketing vice president for Pepsi in South America. He has played an important role in the national partnership between Y-USA and PepsiCo.

Prior to joining PepsiCo, Mr. Lucio gained 15 years of consumer goods experience with Procter & Gamble and Kraft General Foods. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Louisiana State University in 1981. A U.S. citizen, Mr. Lucio was born in Spain, raised in Puerto Rico and educated in the United States. He also has lived in Mexico and traveled extensively throughout the world. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Larry Rosen is president and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, a position he has held since June 1994. One of the largest YMCAs in North America, the Los Angeles Y has 24 branches and three camps involving an active membership of more than 265,000 men, women and children in communities throughout the greater L.A. area. Mr. Rosen has filled various leadership positions over his 37-year YMCA career including executive director of the Torrance-South Bay Family YMCA (Calif.), executive vice president/chief operating officer of the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, and president and CEO of the Channel Islands YMCA in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, Calif. 

Mr. Rosen has served frequently as a speaker, trainer and consultant for YMCAs and other organizations nationally on numerous subjects related to leading not-for-profits, including board development, financial development, strategic planning, membership development, marketing management, pricing and diversity. He earned a bachelor’s degree in social welfare from California State University at Long Beach.
